Happiness is a direct experience of enthusiasm. Remember, it is not how or when we accomplish something that matters most, it is the sense of enthusiasm during the process that demonstrates our quality of life. As Bo Bennett puts it, “Enthusiasm is not the same as just being excited. One gets excited about going on a roller coaster. One becomes enthusiastic about creating and building a roller coaster.”
What are you enthusiastic about?
If you wake up dreading the day, worried about the hours ahead and already wishing you could be done with it and back in bed, well, that’s just not cool. The first thing we reach for in the morning shouldn’t be our i-device or Droid; it should be consciously choosing the most positive thought that stokes our energy to excel for the entire day. Since our conscious brain can only hold one thought at a time, this singular thought can inspire the quality of the rest of our day through sheer enthusiasm.
When your morning enthusiasm becomes a habit, Robin Sharma writes in The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari that your life can look like this: “You will wake up every morning with a limitless reservoir of energy and enthusiasm. All your thoughts will be focused on your definite objective. You won’t have time to waste time. You will automatically erase the worry habit and become far more effective and productive.”
Why learn the language of Enthusiasm?
Enthusiasm gives us the chance to go beyond our happiness set point. According to geneticists we have an “inborn” happiness set point of about 50% that we return to whether good things or bad things happen. We have 10% influence based on environmental factors and up to 40% that is affected by “intentional activity.” Practicing the language and behavior of enthusiasm is making the choice to be happy.
This action helps us harness the power of our minds and hearts to work together. When what we think, feel, and do are in alignment we naturally live in a state of joy. The foundational teachings of yoga tell us that joy is our birthright. That doesn’t mean it comes easy: It takes real effort. However, this exertion is well worth it and we should never let a day go by without putting forth our best effort to live with passion.
In fact, yoga is a practice of awakening and recruiting every cell in our bodies to participate. It is an internal democracy to do something. And from the micro we can take it macro and make a difference in the world. Enthusiasm drives us to go beyond mediocrity.
I believe that individuals can make a difference in society. Since periods of change such as the present one come so rarely in human history, it is up to each of us to make the best use of our time to help create a happier world. – The Dalai Lama
Never again wake-up with anything less than excitement to live the best day ever. Hold to heart, in the words of Wayne Dyer, “You are not an apprentice person on the way to someplace else.” This is not a rehearsal. We will never get to do today over again so we might as well become fluent in enthusiasm.
Love yourself, love your day, love your life!

Great post and thanks for sharing..
A very insightful and encouraging look at the power that we hold in our hands. Enthusiasm only requires our conscious choice and engagement. Just think that through enthusiasm we have access to a reserve of energy that never runs out! I also love the quotes that you bring in. Have shared one of your lines myself :

I wholeheartedly agree. Ever fiber of our being must be aligned and recruited into participation in our daily life. On every level we must must engage as best as we can. Thanks for this post!
I am so grateful for your feedback. Love your day!
What a positive post!Sometimes life is faster than we can handle and we struggle to find our lost energy again! We have to find our motivation button to press it and go on!
What an interesting and inspirational post! Thank you so much for sharing. It is so important to remember that a positive outlook on life can really change the way we see things, and often opportunities come to us when we change our attitude to life. Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
I always find that I am full of energy and enthusiasm when I choose to see the world in a positive life. It is a conscious choice. https://champagneinateacup.wordpress.com/
This is such an inspirational post, and it’s exactly what I needed to read today. 🙂 It can be really hard during some mornings to wake up with and maintain a positive attitude throughout the day (especially on Mondays!). Your quote from the Dalai Lama is great as well – often times people get discouraged because they see themselves as a tiny part of such a huge world, but his quote reminds us we don’t have to see it that way. Your life can be anything you want it to be!
My first move each day is toward the floor to do exercise. Since I started a month ago, my outlook each morning has changed dramatically!
amazing and well written .How good those points are easy to understand and interesting to read .I am happy to visit your website and read such amazing article .A big thanks for sharing this article with us.
Enthusiasm is absolutely necessary if you ever want to accomplish anything of value. You need a larger-than-life excitement in whatever it is that you are doing for it to be successful.
I think this is very intersting product
Great post thank you! I needed to read this today 😉 Something you wrote reminded me of Danielle Laporte’s comment about unfettering your happiness & that happiness is carbonated consciousness (!!!). Thought you might appreciate her post:
Great post Silvia!
A truly positive and uplifting post thank you very much for sharing this!
Ditto with the writer…enthusiasm does the trick, makes the difference…a mind turner…just love it! Greatest!!!
It’s really a challenge to wake up encouraging ourselves to think good thoughts as we are generally very lazy in the morning… hahah…
Exercise does this well for me …. though the darkness of the season has made it hard to get out of bed in the morning, I will take the words in this post to heart … thanks!
Totally understand especially with the start of the Dark Moon last night. Time to incubate the delights we want to see bloom. We can be enthusiastic in gestation too 🙂
Well written article and so true! I have to admit I have struggled with starting my day on a positive note and I find it also helps to set my intention for the following day before going to bed.
I am enthusiastic about keeping up a healthier lifestyle actually. I finally started to change bad habits last summer.
I love this!! Thank you! ❤
I like this a lot, it’s like enthusiasm is your measurement for how happy you are! Makes knowing that you are happy a lot easier!
Very insightful. I love how you said “We will never get to do today over again so we might as well become fluent in enthusiasm.” I will aim to become fluent in enthusiasm 🙂 Thanks for the motivation.
Great post thanks for the post.
Being enthusiastic is the necessity , if we want to achieve something in life .http://doctortea.co.in/
Sensational article. I agree with you, the power of enthusiasm is impressive.
Living with enthusiasm is the difference between having a crappy life and living an absolutely wonderful. All things are truly in the eye of the beholder!
Great post! Happiness comes from within. Meditate and search through your inner self what gets you motivated. Check out my new blog healthyheatherblog.wordpress.com

Awesome post! Really Yoga should be important part of our life.
I agree with you.Enthusiasm makes us confident and powerful
The quote which you have shared is so impressive. I really like most, the quotes of Dalai Lama
Hope you will come back some more idea…
Lots of meditation practitioners believe in focusing on one thing—breath, a candle flame, etc. In other words, we’re encouraged to “empty the mind.” I find this hard to manage on a regular basis, though. What works for me is this: I envision that there’s lid on the top of my head, and I open it and let everything bubble out. I don’t try to stop my thoughts, I just don’t attach to them. “Let your thoughts float by like clouds in the sky,” as my former Buddhist teacher used to say.
Amazing post. I love the latter bit where you speak of ‘ so we might as well be fluent in enthusiasm.’ I, for one, would love to speak that language and do so effortlessly well. Everyone should also join the bandwagon.
Are you a lover of yoga? What is it that you look for in your yoga products? What would you want in them that may be missing? Kindly share your input at http://www.yogaproductsurvey.com
Interesting read. I agree with what you’ve written. Often we measure happiness in terms of what we’ve achieved, while it is the way you feel through the journey that really makes a difference. Also like what you have written about harnessing the power of the mind and heart to work together. Practicing yoga can definitely help achieve this.
Any job interview I’ve had, I forced myself to be enthusiast if I wasn’t.
Enthusiasm is contagious, it is needed.
Once in, it motivates a whole team.
It is an absolute must

Awesome post! Yes, enthusiasm paves the way to greatness. Or as Emerson put it, “Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.” 🙂
