You've probably already seen the news story reporting researchers' findings that organic food has little to no nutritional or health value over good old-fashioned give-me-all-the-pesticides-you-can-take food. Even still, armed with that knowledge, my eating habits won't change much since about the only organic food I eat on a regular basis is the slightly more expensive cold cereal that I buy just 'cause it tastes better. When I'm home, I eat whatever my beautiful wife makes, and since she's … [Read more...] about News Report: Organic food no healthier, but is that all that matters…

Staying on the Path
After yesterday's triumphant announcement about completing the 30 day yoga challenge, I just about blew it on the last day. I got home from work, sat down in my chair to read a book, decided the bed looked more comfortable than the chair, relocated myself to the bed, clicked through a couple of pages of Pride and Prejudice on my Kindle 2, and then next thing I knew I woke up a couple of hours later; which happened to be much later than my normal evening yoga time. As I groggily came to my … [Read more...] about Staying on the Path
30 Day Yoga Challenge ~ Conquered
I pulled out my calendar yesterday to figure out how many more days I had for my 30 day yoga challenge and realized that I only had one day left to go. Barring any unforeseen disasters today, I should be able to check this one off my box by the time the day is done. What an interesting month it's been to sweat out my stress every night on the yoga mat with a commitment and dedication I didn't know I had within me. I'm the sort of person that's great at starting things, but not so good at … [Read more...] about 30 Day Yoga Challenge ~ Conquered
Halfway Through 30 Day Yoga Challenge
Today is officially day 15 of my 30 day yoga challenge. Besides a little bit of wrist soreness due to not practicing this much in a long time, it's been great getting on the mat every day for an hour or so. Although I throw in a couple of asana variations, I pretty much have a routine set of poses I go through every day that I know get the sweat flowing, especially if I turn the AC off in my room. It's about 8:15 at night right now and the temperature is 109 degrees here in lovely Baghdad. … [Read more...] about Halfway Through 30 Day Yoga Challenge
30 Day Yoga Challenge: Day 10 Sleep-deprived Yoga
Today was day 10 of my 30 day yoga challenge. So far, so good, other than it was the first day where I felt like going to bed instead of throwing out the mat. It was just a long, exhausting day of work. And even once I convinced myself to get practicing, every movement felt like it required more energy than I had inside me. I ended up modifying the intensity of today's practice so I didn't collapse in defeat on my mat. Nonetheless, I still practiced for an hour before I relaxed into a … [Read more...] about 30 Day Yoga Challenge: Day 10 Sleep-deprived Yoga
Yogahack: How to Keep a Yoga Mat Sticky, Not Stinky
You don't want to be that person, you know, the one who everyone stays as far away from at yoga class because their mat reeks so bad and has so much sweat and bacteria growing on it that it might very well be the next step in the evolution of yoga. The living, breathing, stinky mat. But no, oh no, not your mat. You would never sweat all over your mat, roll it up sopping wet and then throw it in the sweltering trunk of your car. Trust me, it's not going to be so hot in the trunk that it … [Read more...] about Yogahack: How to Keep a Yoga Mat Sticky, Not Stinky
