Hip Openers Video from Yoga Journal Home Practice

Hip Openers = one of my favorite reasons for practicing yoga asana :)  I don't know why anyone would dread hip openers.  I like them so much I often sit cross-legged (lotus or half lotus) in my chair at work.  This is a short, but sweet hip opening sequence from Yoga Journal's Live Mag channel.  I just completed it, and feel very, very good.  A nice sequence when you only have 20 minutes. [vodpod … [Read more...] about Hip Openers Video from Yoga Journal Home Practice

The Legend of Ganesh, Son of Shiva & Parvati

Ever wonder why Ganesh has an elephant head? MC Yogi illuminates the tradition in the lyrics to "Son of Shiva" on his Elephant Power album: Son of Shiva High up in the Himalayan mountain peaks / their lived a beautiful goddess named Parvati / Parvati was the wife of the god named Shiva / the king of all yogi’s who destroys all demons / now Shiva loved to practice yoga deep in the forest / away from the world and all the things that lure us / often meditating for weeks and … [Read more...] about The Legend of Ganesh, Son of Shiva & Parvati

Kindfully + Mindfully

Wherever there is a human being there is an opportunity for kindness. ~Seneca There’s something so powerfully simple, profoundly beautiful, about the Dalai Lama’s quote: “My religion is very simple. My religion is kindness.” If you were to adopt one central tenet for your life, a single word to live by, you might do no better than to live a life of "kindness."  Kindness is certainly a philosophy worth exploring. Kindness can guide every interaction you have with others, can guide … [Read more...] about Kindfully + Mindfully

Satisfy Your Yoga Book Obsession

Today was a great day because I finally received my latest yoga book order from Amazon.com.  Took almost two and a half weeks.  Luckily (?) I've been busy enough that I didn't really notice the delivery delay.  I've sort of been stocking up on my yoga books since I'm heading to Japan for a few years.  Of course I'll be able to order books in Japan as well, but it's a convenient excuse for now.  I don't really need much of a reason to buy new yoga books... I've also noticed a trend with yoga … [Read more...] about Satisfy Your Yoga Book Obsession
