I often say in class that the hardest pose we practice is being ourselves. Another truth I share is that the body doesn’t lie. When we’re in a pose on our mats, it’s just us standing or sitting there on the mat; there are no excuses to be made or fingers to be pointed. However, we have to acknowledge our true feelings on the mat as there’s no denying who we are and where we are in our individual lives at any given moment. Through the practice of yoga we learn to be self-cognizant and … [Read more...] about HROI – Happiness Return on Investment
True Yoga is Not about the Shape of Your Body…
"True yoga is not about the shape of your body, but the shape of your life. Yoga is not to be performed; yoga is to be lived. Yoga doesn’t care about what you have been; yoga cares about the person you are becoming. Yoga is designed for a vast and profound purpose, and for it to be truly called yoga, its essence must be embodied." ~Aadil Palkhivala, Fire of Love ------------- [Photo credit: Virginie at Teeny Tiny Om] … [Read more...] about True Yoga is Not about the Shape of Your Body…

When I was in 11th grade I was afraid to tell my crush I was in love with him fearing rejection. For some of you the fear may lay in admitting that you wanted the lead role in a … [Read more...] about Yoga = Both Truth and Dare
Yoga, Financial Abundance, and Spiritual Joy
As a yoga student or teacher, I bet you’ve heard a lot about detachment. You’ve probably heard a lot about finding happiness within and rising above the ever peaking and skyrocketing highs and lows of happiness derived from material things. True enough. Well said. Fair play. But is the emphasis on detachment and living a spiritually abundant life at the expense of financial abundance really the point? What about God? The G-word? Aka Om, cosmic energy, the universe, or the source. Isn’t the … [Read more...] about Yoga, Financial Abundance, and Spiritual Joy
