Despite the fact that we're all about 1/10 as flexible as Kino MacGregor, this "Introduction to Ashtanga Yoga" promises to be a great resource for passing on the tradition. We'll let you know when it becomes available from Miami Life Center. Should be "soon." [Update: Video is now available here]. Video description: On this DVD we introduce you to the Ashtanga Yoga system, devised by our teacher Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and traditionally taught in Mysore, India. As our gaze wanders, our mind follows
A few favorite paragraphs near the end of A.G. Mohan's excellent and brief biography, Krishnamacharya: 'In purity of food lies purity of mind. When the mind is pure, awareness is unbroken.' Chandogya Upanishad 7.26.2 Traditional explanations of this famous saying note that the word food refers not merely to what we eat but to what we see, hear, smell, or touch as well. John Friend will Definitely be at Wanderlust Festival
Bet there's a few of you who can't wait to get the Wanderlust 2011 party started. I know one person who will be there: Anusara Yoga founder John Friend. I really quite enjoyed this fairly long but entertaining clip from John Friend at last year's Wanderlust Speakeasy about the purpose, power, and diversity of the yoga community. In the midst of exploring the world of Anusara, I discovered this gem of a yoga reading list on the Anusara website. Lots of good yoga books to contemplate (and … [Read more...] about John Friend will Definitely be at Wanderlust Festival
A Couple YouTube Clips of that Dude Who Made the Sweet Ashtanga Yoga Posters

The clips apparently come from a recently released Primary Series DVD that's available on Amazon's German website. I'm curious to know if any of you own the … [Read more...] about A Couple YouTube Clips of that Dude Who Made the Sweet Ashtanga Yoga Posters

Yoga Challenge Day 12 ~ Have a Plan
I've realized over the last few weeks of daily yoga practice that my time on the mat is much more effective if I have a practice plan in mind when I begin. That's probably the largest difference between my current yoga challenge and the one I completed last year. Last year I seemed to have more of an idea what my daily yoga routine would consist of; this year, not so much, which means I sort of just improvise for a while on the mat before I decide to call it a day. Although my desire and … [Read more...] about Yoga Challenge Day 12 ~ Have a Plan
